CASLIS Calgary Fall Luncheon November 5th, 2009
Speaker: Kelly Kubrick of Online Authority
Location: 2nd floor boardroom at the Central Library (616 Macleod Trail SE)
Cost: $25 per ticket
Begins: 9:30AM with Lunch at noon
In today's environment of increasing accountability, organizations are seeking practical ways to show results to inquiring stakeholders. In particular, organizations are demanding to know why marketing and communications activities shouldn't be pared back. Especially that pesky
website.
During this entertaining workshop, Kelly Kubrick of Online Authority will use live examples of attendees' own library websites to illustrate how to
measure your website's performance, report progress and show results. The session will also cover how you can prove you are using your library's website to offer better service to clients, how to ensure your website remains accountable and how to secure resources to improve the website going forward.
CASLIS launches an exciting new mentoring program
The Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services (CASLIS) is proud to announce an exciting new mentoring program.
The Mentoring program will pair mentors or trusted advisors with new librarians or library technicians with the goal of providing professional development, growth, and support. The flexibility of the program will also accommodate individuals who may not be recent graduates, but who are seeking guidance in specific areas such as resume reviewing and interview skill building.
The program has been designed with the goal of assisting both new and seasoned librarians and library technicians in achieving their career goals. In addition, the mentoring program will develop trusting professional relationships among special librarians and technicians, foster individual and mutual professional interests and aspirations, and encourage intergenerational cooperation and healthy workplaces.
Mentee and mentor applications will be posted online in the coming weeks. Those interested in participating as mentors can contact Kerry Macdonald prior to the posting of the online mentor application.
For additional information about the CASLIS Mentoring program, please contact Kerry Macdonald at caslismentoring@cla.ca.
The Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services (CASLIS) is a division of the Canadian Library Association (CLA). The Canadian Library Association (CLA) is Canada’s largest national association representing the interests of all types of libraries and library workers.
